EFT and the Energy of Failure
I often work with clients who are stuck, and frequently, one of the issues behind this ‘stuck’ is the fear of failing. If you start projects and don’t finish them, you may have a fear of failure on some level. EFT can help clear this fear (and just about every other one as well!).
Following, are clear instructions of how to clear this particular fear with EFT. Why not have a go – and feel free to leave me a comment or a question
- Write down the benefits for you of failing. For example; it’s safe and you know you can handle it because you’ve handled it before; everything will stay the same; people won’t expect too much of you; you can keep doing what you’re doing; its easy; it means you don’t have to be driven; you can stay invisible; you’ll be judged. What can you think of?
- In every thing we do, there are benefits and costs. The same is true for fears and beliefs. You may notice that what you may call a benefit, actually is not a benefit. It is more often a belief or fear you have set up in order to protect yourself from getting hurt. However, the truth is that we still get hurt – we are kidding ourselves.
- Write down the costs of failing for you; Eg, loss of money, loss of appreciation and praise; loss of self esteem and confidence; ridicule; getting to be right – i.e. it happened before and therefore is bound to happen again. What else?
- Choose a limiting belief or emotion from your lists. (If you are unsure of what constitutes a limiting belief go to; http://www.pennywaite.co.uk/getting-over-it/eft-and-the-energy-of-thoughts/ ) If you are working with a limiting belief, start with the one which you believe to be the most true.
- Measure on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the greatest how much you believe or fear that NOW.
- Check outhttp://www.pennywaite.co.uk/eft/meridian-tapping-points/ on the website and acquaint yourself with each point.
- Tap through all the points following the script below 3 times.
- Measure on a scale of 1 to 10 how much you believe that NOW
- If the emotion/belief has collapsed, choose another and repeat the process. If you still have the remains of that emotion/belief, tap through again starting with “Even though I have the remains of this belief/emotion. Notice what thoughts or memories come up for you whilst tapping. For example, you may have remembered a time when you failed and felt rejected. The emotion at the time could have been so overpowering that your sub-conscious mind decided ‘never again am I going to risk that” . This is called a limiting decision.
10. You may have remembered something which appears to be unconnected. However, your sub conscious mind has brought it into your conscious mind for a reason so, give it a title, measure your emotion around that event now, and tap through it. Then, go back to the belief/emotion you were working with and see what’s changed. Be sure that you have gone back to the original belief/emotion you were working on, rather then jumped forward to a different aspect of the same problem.
11. Continue until you have collapsed all your Fears of Failure you can think of. A small tip – keep going until all aspects of the emotion/belief have collapsed. Perseverance is key.
EFT Script for Failure
This is designed to bring to your conscious mind, any fears of failure which are lurking in your subconscious.
PR- Even though I’ve failed before and I can’t risk it again, I completely love and accept myself. I’m open to the possibility that this time could be different.
Even though it’s not safe to fail so I’ll make sure I don’t by not trying, I love and accept myself and I give myself permission to fail.
Even though I cannot give myself permission to fail, I love and accept myself and I’m open to the possibility that giving myself permission to fail will give me permission to try – to put my heart and soul into this project.
Even though failure is not an option, I love and accept myself anyway.
Even though I’m out of my comfort zone, I love and accept myself anyway, and the part of me that is scared
