EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUES FOR CYNICS

Using Emotional Freedom Techniques creates Freedom. Freedom from emotional and physical pain; freedom from negative patterns of behaviour; freedom from fears and phobias; freedom from upsetting emotions connected to memories; the freedom to experience what you want to experience.

EFT is the technique of tapping with the finger tips on points on the upper body. It is a very forgiving technique and, as long as you use 2 finger tips (or more when you can, e.g. collar bone, crown, under arm points) you will always hit the spot! You can use either hand or change during the sequence – whatever is most

comfortable for you.

So, if you believe that Emotional Freedom Techniques is weird alternative stuff and could never work for you, why not try this simple experiment.

Abbreviations and Tapping Points

Take five minutes to acquaint yourself with all the points you will be tapping so you can remember them easily.

PR Point

Side of your hand

This is the side of your hand that is commonly known as the point you use in a karate chop. It is between the bottom of the little finger and the wrist. It is the fatty part of your hand on the opposite side of your thumb.

EB

Eye brow Point

Situated at the meeting of the eyebrow and the beginning of the nose.

SE

Side of the Eye

Follow your fingers along your eyebrow from the beginning near the nose, to the side of your eye. It is a bony point on the corner of the eye socket.

UE

Underneath the Eye

This point is beneath the eye, again on the edge of the eye socket. It is about a centimeter beneath the pupil.

Ns

Nose

This point is directly beneath the nose and above the upper lip.

Ch

Chin

This point is below the lower lip, in the dip above the chin.

CB

Collar Bone

Find the ‘V’ at the base of your neck, (it is the area where a man may knot his tie). The meridian point is about an inch below and an inch to the side (left or right). It is the point where the clavicle, sternum and first rib meet. Again, this is a very bony point. To tap around this point, use all the fingertips of either left or right hand or tap around both sides of the ‘V’ using both hands.

UA

Under Arm

This point is about 4 inches below the armpit. It is easy to find as the point where a bra strap fits around the torso.

Cr

Crown of the Head

Take a line from the uppermost part of the ears. Where the line would meet is the crown point. Tap around this point using all the left or right hand fingertips.

Script for EFT Cynics

First, measure your cynicism on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being not cynical at all and 10 being totally cynical that EFT could possibly work.

Now, tap on the points gently (but enough to feel it) with your fingertips, while reading the words aloud.

Side of Hand

Even though I am cynical about this EFT tapping stuff – it just doesn’t make sense to me, I completely love and accept myself and I am open to the possibility that it might work, even if I don’t know how.

Even though this EFT stuff probably won’t work for me, I accept myself and I’m open to the possibility that it might.

Even though this sounds like one of those new agey nonsense things, I love and accept myself and I am open to the possibility that I might be wrong.

EB; This cynicism

SE; It’s just not possible, it can’t work

UE; People probably think it works because they are manipulated to think it does!

Ns; Intelligent people like me wouldn’t be taken in

Ch; This belief – EFT doesn’t work, couldn’t work, it’s just weird

CB; It’s all rubbish, or maybe not,

UA; Maybe I just don’t understand it, like lots of other things I don’t understand

CR; After all, very intelligent professional people swear by it.

EB; Well, they must be idiots, it’s just wishful thinking that it works

SE; Or maybe it actually does work

UE; No way – how could this possibly work

Ns; I choose to open up to the possibility that it does work

Ch; I choose to be open to the possibility that it can work for me

Cb; This cynicism, it can’t possibly work

UA; EFT couldn’t possibly work for me

CR; Imagine if it could – maybe life would be easier and happier – maybe not! All this cynicism

Side of Hand;

Even though I am not convinced and never will be, I love and accept myself anyway. I give myself permission to be open to the possibility of EFT working.

Even though I can’t believe I’m doing this, It’s all just Alternative nonsense, I love and accept myself. I am open to the fact that thousands of doctors and psychiatrists, nurses and health workers across the world, swear by this technique.

Even though EFT might be good for some but not for me, I love and accept myself. Maybe it is safe to give it a chance.

EB; I wonder if it might work for me

SE; Maybe it will help me with some of my problems

UE; No chance, how could tapping on bits of me, while speaking some words, shift my life for the better?

Ns; I’m an intelligent person, and I choose to remain open,

Ch; After all, I might be missing something here!

Cb; I choose to become incredibly curious about this technique

UA; I have nothing to loose and maybe a lot to gain

CR; I choose to love and accept myself whatever I choose to believe.

Having completed the script, please note down how cynical you feel now. What has changed? What are your thoughts telling you now? Please feel free to comment below – anonymous is fine!

    Ola! Pennywaite,
I know what you mean I have been using EFT on my own for the past few months using the EFT manual. I suspect it has something to do with the depression I have slipped into and the terrible cold I have had for a week. Just wanted some insight on this.
    Regards
